Dealing with your anger directed toward yourself

AshlyDoug

I have a habit of swearing at myself when I make a mistake, for example I overlooked the car to my right at a four way stop and did not wait my turn. I silently cursed myself. I make many mistakes every day and curse myself for several of them. The news is full of our anger and we feel it as we go through our day. And what a waste of time! So I’m following my own advice from How Love Wins. When I make a mistake, instead of attacking myself, I say “teach me.” I find I am now actually learning from my mistakes and have less anger in my life. If you get down on yourself, try switching to saying this to yourself, “Teach me.”
